Claims that South Korea's first lady Kim Keon Hee rejected an offer for BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga to perform together at the historic Carnegie Hall in New York City have resurfaced online.

During a live broadcast aired on February 14 KST, political commentator Park Seon Won spoke with National Assemblyman Kim Min Suk of the Democratic Party on current affairs within the National Assembly and new developments in president Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment trial.

Here, Park Seon Won raised the accusations that first lady Kim Keon Hee had rejected an offer from the United States to have BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga perform together at Carnegie Hall as a part of president Yoon Suk Yeol's visit to the U.S. in April of 2023.

According to the commentator, "The first lady of the United States at the time, Jill Biden, relayed the offer through the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, that she wished to have BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga perform together at Carnegie Hall. However, while the ambassador attempted to pass on this offer to the president several times, it was blocked by the National Security Office."

The commentator continued, "They said that Kim Keon Hee did not like the idea. She does not like having young women around when she is present. The offer from Jill Biden ultimately fell through. Yoon Seok Yeol was furious, and several high ranking officials like the secretary of foreign affairs, the secretary of protocol, and the chief of security were fired as a result."

In fact, reports about the rejected offer had made headlines some time last year as well. According to the reports, Jill Biden had suggested the performance to commemorate both Yoon Suk Yeol and Kim Keon Hee's U.S. visit and the Korea-U.S. Summit, which occurred from April 24-30, 2023. The invitation of the two artists, BLACKPINK and Lady Gaga, was to symbolize the meeting of the two state leaders of South Korea and the United States. The commemorative performance would also have aligned with Joe Biden's presidential campaign declaration, contributing to his agenda.

However, because the United States never received a response to the suggestion, the performance was never realized.

In light of the issue gaining renewed attention online, netizens reacted with comments like, "Grandma you ruined everything ughhh", "Lady, can you please act your age", "You're old enough to be their mom, woman", "She has some serious mental disorders", "What a disgrace to this country", "I bet she has lived her whole life making women who are prettier than her miserable", "I hope all the plastic melts off her face in prison", and more.
