K-content has secured the top spot for two consecutive years for Netflix's non-English content category.

Netflix released its viewership report on February 27, showcasing the content that was loved by members worldwide in the second half of 2024. K-content ranked first in non-English content viewership for 2023-2024.

The viewership report reflects the viewing activity of Netflix members and includes data on the viewing time and the number of views for all productions and licenses with at least 50,000 hours of viewing in six months. The calculation method of total viewing time divided by total runtime, rounded to the nearest 100,000 units was used.

Non-English content has shown impressive performance. Productions from Korea, Japan, France, Colombia, and Brazil accounted for one-third of the total views. Netflix's focus on empowering local creators in various countries has paid off.

In the second half of last year, Netflix's total viewing time reached 94 billion hours, a 5% increase compared to the previous year. K-content, including series, films, and variety shows, stood out across various genres.

The performance of 'Squid Game' season 2, starring actor Lee Jung Jae, was particularly remarkable. Despite being released just six days before the end of the year, it recorded around 87 million views, making it the most-watched series of the second half of the year.

In films, 'Officer Black Belt' (40 million), 'Uprising' (24 million), and 'Mission: Cross' (23 million) garnered significant viewership. Drama 'Love Next Door' (20 million) and 'Culinary Class War' (17 million) also received much love.

Netflix commented, "K-content has topped non-English content viewership for two years in a row. We will continue to challenge ourselves with new genres and themes, and work with various partners to expand globally."
