BoA and Shinee’s Key to host SM entertainment’s 30th anniversary special.
SBS will air the first part of its Lunar New Year special ‘K-POP The Beginning: SMTOWN 30’ on January 28th at 6 p.m KST. The show celebrates SM Entertainment’s 30-year journey and will include exclusive broadcasts of the iconic 'SMTOWN LIVE 2025 THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE' in SEOUL, held earlier this month.
As hosts, BoA, SM’s “eternal pillar” and the legendary “Star of Asia,” joins forces with Key, SHINee’s charismatic performer and beloved entertainer, to guide viewers through the company’s illustrious history.
The special will revisit SM’s iconic moments, starting with the debut of H.O.T., the trailblazers of K-pop idol culture. H.O.T. member and current SM director Kangta will share anecdotes about the group’s immense popularity, including the unforgettable craze of selling member DNA cards at stationery stores.
The show will also highlight SM’s legendary artists, including S.E.S., Shinhwa, BoA, TVXQ, Super Junior, and Girls’ Generation, sharing behind-the-scenes stories of their groundbreaking careers.
Additionally, fans can look forward to collaboration stages from the 30th-anniversary concert. Highlights include a mesmerizing performance by S.E.S.’s Bada with aespa’s Karina and Winter, and a nostalgic stage by H.O.T.’s Kangta and Tony An alongside NCT DREAM.
Part 2 of ‘K-POP The Beginning: SMTOWN 30’ is set to air on February 1st at 6:20 p.m KST., continuing the celebration of SM Entertainment’s monumental legacy.
