On January 2, Netflix revealed that 'Squid Game 3,' 'Wednesday,' and 'Stranger Things' as its three most anticipated releases for 2025, sparking excitement among fans. Netflix introduced these three shows in their latest teaser video giving a preview of the upcoming seasons.

In particular, following the recent release of 'Squid Game 2,' attention has shifted to the release date of the highly anticipated third season. Interestingly, it appears Netflix Korea may have accidentally revealed the release date for 'Squid Game 3.' The Netflix Korea YouTube channel recently released a shorts video for season 3. The video description included the phrase, "Watch 'Squid Game' on Netflix on June 27." However, the shorts video is now set to private, raising anticipation about whether it will indeed be released on June 27.

Moreover, Netflix Korea recently unveiled a teaser poster featuring the mysterious character Cheolsu, first introduced in the Season 2 post-credits scene, further fueling speculation about what’s to come.

Director Hwang Dong Hyuk, the visionary behind the 'Squid Game' series, recently provided insight into the release timeline for Season 3. Speaking about its premiere, he stated, “What I can say is that the release date for Season 3 will be announced soon after Season 2 begins. It is likely to start next summer or fall.”

Director Hwang also teased the upcoming episodes, saying, “Each remaining episode will get better. With every season, the story becomes more expansive, intense, and definitely more entertaining. Please stay tuned until the very end.” His remarks have only heightened fans’ anticipation for Season 3.

As Netflix has highlighted 'Squid Game 3' among its three most anticipated titles for 2025, alongside 'Wednesday' and 'Stranger Things,' expectations for the series’ quality and storytelling are soaring. Fans are eager to see how these blockbuster productions will meet the high bar set by their earlier seasons. 

Meanwhile, the second season of 'Squid Game' debuted on December 26, 2024, following the story of Gi Hun (played by Lee Jung Jae), who returns to the deadly games seeking revenge, and his intense confrontation with the Front Man (played by Lee Byung Hun). The season also delves into the resumption of the real games, drawing viewers back into the high-stakes world of the series.

Within just two days of its release, 'Squid Game 2' soared to the top spot in 93 countries across every continent, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Turkey, Hong Kong, and South Korea. The series set new records for viewership in its first week and maintained its position as the number-one show globally for seven consecutive days starting on December 27.
