Rumors are spreading that Leonardo DiCaprio will appear in 'Squid Game' Season 3. Following secretive filming last year, news of DiCaprio’s involvement, given his self-professed fandom of 'Squid Game,' has generated heightened anticipation.
According to an OSEN report on January 1, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio is expected to feature in Netflix’s mega-hit series 'Squid Game 3.' It is reported that filming has already been completed, and he will make a surprise appearance in Season 3, which is slated for release this summer. His screen time is said to be limited, and due to concerns about spoilers, details about his character remain under wraps.
Regarding this, a Netflix representative stated, “We’ve also heard rumors about Leonardo DiCaprio’s appearance, but they are not true,” firmly denying the claims.
Previously, lead actor Lee Jung Jae created buzz in 2021 shortly after the premiere of Season 1 when he met Leonardo DiCaprio at the 'LACMA Art + Film Gala' in Los Angeles, where the two posed for a friendly photo. The following year, Lee won the Best Actor award at the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. During a red carpet interview, when asked which American actor he would like to see in Season 2, Lee responded, “Leonardo DiCaprio,” drawing significant attention.
Director Hwang Dong Hyuk also fueled speculation in September 2022 during a press conference celebrating 'Squid Game’s six Emmy wins, held at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Seoul. When asked if a prominent Hollywood actor might appear in future seasons, Hwang said, “Leonardo DiCaprio himself has expressed that he’s a fan of 'Squid Game.' Internally, we even joked, ‘Should we make an offer? Let’s ask him.’ Many actors indeed love and admire the series."
Meanwhile, 'Squid Game 2' depicted the intense showdown between Gi-hun (Lee Jung Jae), who returns to the deadly games driven by vengeance, and the Front Man (Lee Byung Hun), as well as the start of another round of deadly competition. Season 3 is scheduled for release in the latter half of 2025.
