Actor Yoo Ah In (Uhm Hong Sik, 38) has sold his Itaewon home in Seoul's Yongsan District to a 7-year-old child from a wealthy family for 6.3 billion KRW (approximately 4,300,840 USD). The transaction was completed with a full cash payment, without the use of any loans.
According to the property register obtained on the 26th, the ownership of the house, which Yoo Ah In sold for 6.3 billion KRW (approximately 4,300,840 USD), was transferred to Park (the child's name), born in July 2017. The sales contract was signed on November 20th, and the ownership transfer was finalized on the 19th of the same month. The absence of any mortgage after the ownership transfer suggests that the 7-year-old child made the full payment in cash.
The new owner is reported to be the child of a well-known fashion brand CEO couple, as the address listed during the ownership registration matches the couple’s residence. Yoo Ah In had showcased the Itaewon house on the MBC entertainment program 'I Live Alone' before selling it for 6.3 billion KRW (approximately 4,300,840 USD). While the real estate industry had estimated the house’s value at around 8 billion KRW (about 5,461,145 USD), it was sold at a lower price.
In a separate matter, Yoo Ah In is currently facing trial for drug-related offenses, including the illegal use of propofol 181 times between September 2020 and March 2022. He is also accused of obtaining over 1,100 sleeping pills under another person’s name from May 2021 to August 2022. Furthermore, Yoo Ah In faces charges for smoking marijuana three times in the U.S. in January this year and for instructing others to smoke.
In the first trial, Yoo Ah In was found guilty of marijuana use and propofol abuse but was acquitted of charges related to attempting to destroy evidence. He was sentenced to one year in prison, fined 2 million KRW (approximately 1,366 USD), ordered to complete 80 hours of drug rehabilitation education, and to pay 1.54 million KRW (approximately 1,051 USD) in forfeitures. Yoo Ah In has appealed the decision, and during the appeal hearing on December 24th, the prosecution sought a sentence of four years in prison.
