Actor Song Jae Rim’s unexpected passing has revealed the existence of a malicious Japanese fan who had persistently harassed him, inciting widespread anger.
According to industry sources, this fan was not just a simple anti-fan but an obsessive fan who invaded Song Jae Rim and his acquaintances' privacy. The fan allegedly engaged in illegal filming of Song Jae Rim’s daily life, even posting unblurred images of his close friends and family on X (formerly Twitter) until recently. Additionally, the fan posted slanderous remarks in Japanese, such as “Did gifts from fans become offerings to [so-and-so]?” and “Can your acting hide your vile nature?”
Upon hearing the tragic news of Song Jae Rim’s passing, many fans expressed fury toward this malicious fan. Although no direct link to his death has been confirmed, the backlash has been intense, leading the fan to delete their account and refrain from making any further statements.
Meanwhile, Song Jae Rim was found deceased on November 12th at approximately 12:30 p.m. in his home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. A friend who was scheduled to meet him found him at his residence and reported the incident to the police. Authorities stated that no indications of foul play were discovered.
The actor's memorial service is being held at Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital, with the funeral scheduled for November 14th at noon. He will be laid to rest at Seoul Municipal Crematorium.
