Disney+ hosted a press conference at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore on November 21 to reveal details about its upcoming original series, ‘Nine Puzzle.’ Starring Son Seok Gu and Kim Da Mi the series combines the intensity of a crime thriller with moments of unexpected charm.
‘Nine Puzzle’ follows Yoon Yi Na (Kim Da Mi), a profiler and former suspect in a decade-old unsolved crime, and detective Kim Han Sam (Son Seok Gu), who still doubts her innocence. Together, they confront a series of murders linked by mysterious puzzle pieces, uncovering hidden truths along the way.
Kim Da Mi
portrays Yoon Yi Na, a sixth-year detective known for her sharp instincts and ability to quickly understand criminal motives. Sharing her preparation for the role, Kim said, “I focused on creating unique profiling methods for Ina and explored how to express her vulnerabilities and depth in key scenes.”
Son Seok Gu plays Kim Han Sam, an elite yet unconventional detective who is more interested in the people behind crimes than the crimes themselves. “Han Sam is a curious character who isn’t confined to typical detective tropes,” said Son.
Director Yoon Jong Bin, returning after ‘Narco-Saints’, was captivated by the script’s twists and immersion. “I didn’t expect to take on another OTT project, but the story drew me in. Every time I thought I’d figured out the culprit, the script surprised me,” he explained. Yoon also highlighted the rarity of a female-led mystery thriller, which added to the series' appeal.
‘Nine Puzzle’ is set to break away from traditional detective dramas by introducing fresh perspectives and intriguing character dynamics. With a gripping plot and standout performances, the series is poised to captivate audiences when it premieres on Disney+ in late 2025.
