NewJeans’ Hanni and ADOR CEO Kim Joo Young have been requested to appear at the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee’s audit session scheduled for October 25th.
On September 30th, the National Assembly’s Environment and Labor Committee confirmed the decision to summon Hanni as a reference and Kim Joo Young as a witness for the upcoming audit on October 25th.
The National Assembly stated that it intends to question Hanni about workplace harassment and inquire with Kim Joo Young about the company's inadequate response to the issue.
Earlier, on September 11th, Hanni expressed during a YouTube live broadcast that she had experienced workplace harassment. Hanni claimed that she overheard other artists and managers from a different label saying, "Just ignore Hanni’s greetings," while at her agency’s office building.
Hanni reported the issue to CEO Kim Joo Young but stated that no proper action was taken. She explained, "I was told there was no evidence and that it was too late to respond. Seeing them trying to sweep it under the rug, I realized there was no one left to protect us."
Although Hanni and Kim Joo Young have been summoned, they may be excused from attending if they submit a valid reason for non-attendance. However, even if a non-attendance notice is submitted, CEO Kim Joo Young, as a witness, could still be ordered to attend at the discretion of the committee.
