BTS Ranks 19th on Billboard’s ‘Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century’ List
On September 10th, American music outlet Billboard revealed its list of the “Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century,” placing BTS at 19th.
Billboard praised BTS, stating, “We will remember this century as BTS brought K-pop to a new global dimension, setting high standards for hit-making and fan dedication over the past decade.”
The outlet further highlighted, “BTS has consistently inspired a meaningful community through their messages of positivity, love, and connection, while breaking barriers for boy bands, K-pop, and Korean artists.”
Drawing comparisons to legendary bands, Billboard remarked, “Achieving Beatles-level success, BTS has become a new blueprint for all pop acts. In maintaining fan excitement while consistently producing hits, they are truly unmatched.”
Billboard emphasized the group’s remarkable achievements, noting, “BTS has recorded six Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits and six Billboard 200 No. 1 albums in the U.S. alone. They’ve carved their own path and garnered historic praise along the way.”
The analysis attributed their success to their unique bond with ARMY, versatility in handling various musical genres, and standout music videos and performances. BTS’s choreography, spanning both hip-hop and ballet styles, was also cited as a key factor in their global dominance.
Since last month, Billboard has been releasing the names of the 25 most influential and important pop stars in America this century, two per week.
Earlier rankings revealed Katy Perry at 25th, Ed Sheeran at 24th, Bad Bunny at 23rd, One Direction at 22nd, Lil Wayne at 21st, and Bruno Mars at 20th.
