SEVENTEEN and UNESCO launch global youth support program.
SEVENTEEN and UNESCO have officially launched their global youth support program.
According to Pledis Entertainment on August 13 KST, SEVENTEEN began recruiting participants for the Global Youth Grant Scheme in collaboration with UNESCO on August 12 KST, coinciding with International Youth Day.
The Global Youth Grant Scheme is a program designed to provide funding, capacity-building, and mentoring to support young people in carrying out various projects for a better future. SEVENTEEN had previously announced a donation of one million dollars to this cause when they were appointed UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors in June.
The newly launched program by SEVENTEEN and UNESCO is named “Going Together - For Youth Creativity & Well-Being.” Through this initiative, SEVENTEEN aims to support projects that strengthen youth confidence and resilience through music, arts, and sports, develop creative youth communities, and enhance mental health for young people.
SEVENTEEN, who have spread messages of solidarity and positivity through their music and performances, are expected to embody the values of “Going Together” once again. In a video introducing the Global Youth Grant Scheme posted on UNESCO's official YouTube channel, the members expressed, “We are proud to announce the launch of a program for young people around the world as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors. SEVENTEEN will be by your side, and we will go together toward your dreams.”
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN has consistently collaborated with UNESCO to raise awareness about the importance of education worldwide. They are the first K-pop artists to be appointed as UNESCO Youth Goodwill Ambassadors, and in November last year, they were assigned a special session at the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, where they gave a speech and performed for over an hour.
