Actoress Choi Kang Hee has embarked on a mission to raise awareness about climate change by visiting Africa. On August 28, a video titled “Got a Gap in My Schedule, Don’t You Need Me?” was uploaded to Choi Kang Hee’s YouTube channel, documenting her journey.
In the video, Choi Kang Hee revealed that a health issue had caused a change in her filming schedule. “I was really looking forward to working on a delivery-related project today,” she said, expressing her disappointment.
As an ambassador for World Vision, Choi Kang Hee had been preparing to participate in the Global 6K for Water campaign, a global charity event where participants run or walk 6 kilometers to raise funds for clean water, symbolizing the daily trek many African children make for water. Choi shared that she had been practicing since dawn, but unfortunately, she developed symptoms of marathon syndrome, which left her unable to walk. Despite her condition, Choi continued to engage with her YouTube subscribers, freely interacting with them before her departure to Africa that weekend.
Choi Kang Hee’s destination was Mozambique, located in southeastern Africa. She detailed her demanding travel itinerary: “I’ll be flying from Korea to Ethiopia, then on to Mozambique, and finally traveling by unpaved roads to reach Mutarara,” she explained.
Choi’s journey aimed to bring attention to the pressing issues facing Mozambique, a country suffering from environmental challenges and the effects of El Niño, which have exacerbated food shortages. “I want to shed light on the struggles of nations battling poverty due to climate change,” she said, emphasizing her sense of mission.
