Son Na Eun and Choi Min Ho (SHINee's Minho), the visual couple, are set to create the perfect 'melodrama.'
JTBC's new weekend drama 'Family X Melo' tells the story of a bloody family melodrama that unfolds when a father, who was abandoned 11 years ago, returns as the landlord of their building. The drama features the reunion-seeking dad Byun Moo Jin (portrayed by Ji Jin Hee) and the mother-daughter duo Geum Ae Yeon (played by Kim Ji Soo) and Byun Mi Rae (played by Son Na Eun), who fiercely oppose his return. Amidst this intense family conflict, a budding romance is also anticipated.
The main characters are Byun Mi Rae, who has a unique and tumultuous family history, and Nam Tae Pyung (portrayed by Choi Min Ho). Mi Rae has no father. Eleven years ago, Moo Jin, who was in the final stages of his business mania, caused a huge incident, leading Mi Rae to cut ties with him. Afterward, she and her mother filled the void left by Moo Jin and found their current peace. However, this peace is shattered when her estranged father returns as the new landlord of their building. The issues related to Moo Jin become the talk of the town daily, and even though he is now a stranger, Mi Rae finds herself enduring all sorts of hardships together with him. Moreover, Moo Jin's reason for returning is to reunite with Ae Yeon, which is a shock for Mi Rae.
Amid this tumultuous 'love and war' with Moo Jin, the one who soothes Mi Rae's troubled heart is Tae Pyung. Tae Pyung always appears when Mi Rae is in a difficult situation, offering his calm comfort and becoming a momentary respite for her relentless pace. Although Tae Pyung seems like an ordinary Taekwondo instructor and a security guard at a large market, it turns out he is the youngest son of a chaebol family. As his complex family history is discovered by Mi Rae, who has her own complicated past, the two develop a deeper bond.
The released couple stills show the 'fresh moments' of Mi Rae and Tae Pyung, which bring a smile to anyone's face. Whether Tae Pyung is taking Mi Rae home on his bicycle or the two are sharing a smile at a café, these moments signal the birth of a beautiful visual couple and raise expectations for the kind of excitement they will bring to the small screen.
Meanwhile, JTBC's new weekend drama 'Family X Melo' will premiere on Saturday, August 10, at 10:30 PM KST, following 'Miss Night and Day.'
