After completing his mandatory military service, BTS's Jin held a free hug event for ARMY on June 13 at the Seoul Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium.
Fans appreciated the wholesome gesture and were grateful for Jin's kind gift. However, the event was not entirely without issues. While most of the 1,000 invited fans hugged him and left quickly, a few fans were caught on camera attempting to kiss Jin on the cheek. This sparked controversy and angered many other fans.
On June 14, it was revealed that the two fans who attempted to kiss Jin were Japanese fans.
One Korean netizen found articles from Japanese media outlets that revealed that the two fans were Japanese fans, one being a famous blogger. According to one media outlet, the Japanese blogger shared that "Jin's skin was very soft and smooth."
The netizen also shared, "I found these on a Japanese website and she seems like a famous pervert (?) and the bottom one seems to be a Japanese person too. Japanese people are slandering them a lot too."
