The following is the full official statement from LE SSERAFIM’s agency, Source Music:
Hello,
This is Source Music.
First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to the fans who cherish and love LE SSERAFIM for any distress caused by the recent series of incidents.
We previously informed you that we would strengthen our legal response to protect the rights and interests of our artists, as the reckless malicious posts targeting LE SSERAFIM have reached a very serious level.
Therefore, we are providing an update to fans ahead of the regular announcement scheduled for the first half of this year, detailing the strong legal actions currently being implemented and the subsequent progress. We ask for your understanding as the extensive preparation for evidence collection and filing complaints has taken considerable time, making it difficult to share immediate updates.
We are actively collecting evidence of malicious posts and comments across all channels, including domestic and international social accounts and online communities related to our artists. In this process, we have mobilized multiple legal professionals, including newly appointed domestic and international law firms, to gather evidence using every possible means, in addition to reports from fans.
As a result, we have compiled a vast amount of posts and comments and filed complaints with investigative agencies for defamation, violation of the Information and Communications Network Act, and sexual harassment under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. We will continue to collect evidence. All malicious slander, false information, personal attacks, derogatory terms, ridicule, and vulgar comments are included in the scope of our legal actions.
The posts and comments subject to complaints include those on portal sites and communities such as Naver, Nate Pann, Theqoo, DC Inside, Instiz, and Ilgan Best, as well as SNS platforms. We have also filed complaints with investigative agencies regarding malicious posts and comments on international platforms and their channel operators.
Regarding some of the ongoing cases, investigations into the perpetrators of malicious posts and comments on communities have been ongoing for a long period. Multiple defendants have been criminally punished with fines of up to 2 million KRW, as the acts of writing malicious posts or comments were recognized as guilty.
It takes anywhere from several months to over a year to complete the legal process, from filing complaints and conducting investigations to obtaining legal judgments and concluding cases. Even though it takes time, we are continuously striving to eradicate illegal activities against our artists. We will firmly respond to all cases that infringe on the rights of our artists, without any leniency.
We are always grateful for the love and dedication of LE SSERAFIM’s fans. We ask for your continued active reporting and interest through the Source Music legal response account.
Source Music will continue to work tirelessly to protect the rights and interests of our artists.
Thank you.
