Xdinary Heroes is an up-and-coming band leading the K-band wave and JYP Entertainment’s second K-band in 6 years and 3 months after DAY6. It is comprised of six members: the leader and drummer from Berkeley College, Gunil; keyboardists Jungsu and O.de; guitarists Gaon and Jun Han; and bassist Jooyeon.
Representing ordinary youths who transform into heroes through their experimental rock music, they have released their first full album ‘Troubleshooting’ in April 30, 2 years and 4 months after debut. They express their confidence in the album, with Gunil calling it a satisfactory creation filled with ambition to display their growth. Gaon comments that they have pushed themselves to the limit to showcase their skills and hopes this album puts them on the map.
Xdinary Heroes follows the world-building of a group being formed on the imaginary platform ‘♭form’ (flat-form). Since debuting, they have been utilizing computer-programming terms to express their music world. Likewise, this album is titled after the term ‘troubleshooting’, which means to ‘solve problems’.
This album extends their concept of six youths from ‘♭form’ who realizes they are decent in the real world too, expanding their musical range through the collision of the real world’s infinite possibilities and their music. Gaon also mentions his confidence in their group’s ability to pull off a wide range of genres from heavy metal to sentimental ballads. All members have participated in songwriting since their debut song “Happy Death Day,” and this time is no exception.
The pop-punk title song “Little Things” conveys the idea of a bunch of friends with messy pasts, complemented with an invigorating sound and a catchy, lyrical melody. Over 400 lyric drafts were submitted, and the final title is based on Jun Han’s idea. Park Jin Young, the head of JYP Entertainment, was also greatly satisfied with the title song. Juyeon states that Park was all smiles when he heard the completed song, and Gunil chimes in, saying Park emphasized that their performances are the coolest when they are telling their stories through the songs.
Xdinary Heroes demonstrated their popularity by selling out three rounds of their concert ‘Closed ♭eta: v6.0’ held in April. Since last year, they have successfully concluded their world tour spanning across 12 regions. Their next concert ‘Closed ♭eta: v6.1’ will be held from May 31 to June 2.
Their skills have matured along with their increasing popularity. Jungsu reflects that their songwriting skills have improved as well, as a song written in 20 minutes was also included in this album.
There has been a recent surge in interests towards K-bands, as many older songs from bands, including their senior DAY6, are re-entering the charts. While Xdinary Heroes welcomes this wave, they are also wary about losing their uniqueness.
While they differ from DAY6’s music which embodies the spirit of youth, as a band made up of young and zealous members, they aim to experiment and come up with more unconventional music in the future.
Gunil notes that as a new band just beginning to garner attention, it’s an honor simply to be a part of the K-band wave. As the young guns, he wishes to present their music’s energy through challenging themselves in various ways.
Gaon also indicates that rather than hastily chasing results, he would like to focus on developing gradually. He continues that DAY6’s songs re-entering the charts is a testament to how good songs never go out of style, and he hopes they would follow in their seniors’ footsteps.

Troubleshooting is really good, and they're a great band. They need to come back to the UK!

Still beating myself up that I managed to miss their last visit to London, by a week. :(
