The "I-LAND 2" production team from Mnet has publicly addressed allegations of misconduct by producers after an insider exposed concerning behavior.
On March 10, the team behind "I-LAND 2" shared a statement emphasizing their commitment to following legal guidelines related to minors and prioritizing the well-being and safety of all participants.
They detailed the safety measures in place on their dedicated filming set, including systems to ensure a safe environment and provide necessary rest periods for participants during shoots. They also highlighted their efforts to ensure all staff members are mindful of their conduct towards the participants.
The production team also made a promise to continue protecting the participants and maintaining a positive production environment.
This response came in light of a post circulating on online forums, where an individual criticized the behavior of a director (PD) towards minor participants on the "I-LAND 2" set. The alleged insider shared observations of the PD's inappropriate treatment towards the young cast, including instances of sleep deprivation and harassment to maintain tension on set.
Additional complaints shared online involved excessive shooting delays, forcing staff and participants to adjust their schedules drastically, pressure on participants to seek permission for basic needs like bathroom breaks, and inadequate heating on set, causing discomfort among participants in thin costumes.
"I-LAND 2" is a collaborative project between Mnet and Belift Lab aimed at launching a new girl group. The project follows the success of "I-LAND" season 1, which led to the formation of ENHYPEN. The new girl group from "I-LAND 2" will join Belift Lab, a company that already represents notable groups and artists in the industry.
The production team's full statement was also shared, addressing these issues and their plans to improve the production environment.
"Hello, we are the production team of I-LAND 2.
Our mission is to captivate our audience with exceptional programming, and central to this commitment is our dedication to maintaining a safe, respectful, and legally compliant filming environment. We prioritize the health and safety of our cast members, especially minors, aligning with the Act on the Promotion of the Pop Culture and Arts Industry.
The I-LAND 2 set is designed with safety in mind, featuring state-of-the-art systems for real-time monitoring. Our central control system ensures the set's temperature is always comfortable, while our advanced ventilation system regularly refreshes the air quality.
We go beyond just the physical environment; rest periods are mandated for our cast, ensuring their well-being is never compromised. Our staff adheres to a strict code of conduct, especially in their interactions with participants, to foster a positive and supportive atmosphere.
As we gear up for the official launch, the I-LAND 2 team is fully committed to safeguarding our cast and ensuring the highest production standards. We're grateful for your support and eagerly look forward to sharing our hard work with you. Thank you."
I-Land 2 is NOT a Collab between Belift and Mnet btw! Belift only has association with season 1/enhypen. This group will be managed by Wakeone (yikes...).
To add on this, I don't believe Mnet that much. Especially after knowing the shitty conditions the girls planet contestants had to face.
