KBS has officially announced the launch of its first idol audition program in 6-years, titled 'MA1' or 'MAKE MATE 1'.
Marking the first K-Pop idol audition program to air on KBS since 'The Unit' in 2018, 'MA1' will follow 36 male contestants of various nationalities and backgrounds chasing after their dreams of becoming global K-Pop stars. All 36 contestants are ordinary youths with no affiliation to any entertainment agencies, who began receiving systematic training through KBS last year.
Vocal trainers Lim Han Byul and Kim Sung Eun, dancers Vata and Ingyu of We Dem Boyz, rapper Hanhae, and MAMAMOO's Solar will serve as mentors for the program. Special coaches are also expected to make guest appearance throughout the series.
KBS2's 'MA1' is set to premiere some time in May of this year.
They need to learn how to support the groups post-competition 1st, the Unit failed because they can't go to other stations to promote and KBS have limited shows that the members can go to. The group need to be detached from the KBS label.
