Renowned Japanese baseball talent Shohei Ohtani, representing the LA Dodgers, once again revealed his affection for Korea.
On March 16, Ohtani attended an official press conference held at Seoul's Gocheok Sky Dome.
During high school, Ohtani participated in a tournament in Korea as a youth representative. Reflecting on his return to Korea, he remarked, "Back then, I was just a high school student, and things have changed since. Korea is one of my favorite countries. I'm thrilled to be back, playing baseball on this soil."
Regarding questions about marriage, Ohtani shared, "(Traveling abroad with my wife) marks a new experience for me. I anticipate it'll be a wonderful time. First, I believe in making sure I do well on what I can do. This journey will create cherished memories for us all. My primary focus remains on my play."
K-netizens, reacting to this news, lauded Ohtani for his exemplary manners, sensibility, and affection toward his Korean fanbase.
Reactions include:
"Thank you, Ohtani T_T so kind"
"Wow, his words are so sweet. Even if it may be fan service, it's not always easy to say such words"
"I heard his wife is just as kind and looks like him haha I hope he is happy"
"Good luck, and fighting, Ohtani!"
"I hope he has a good time in Korea"
"He's always so good in interviews!"
"I really love him"
"I hope he and his wife get to date a lot in Korea and form only pleasant memories"
In related news, the season opener of Major League Baseball, '2024 MLB World Tour: Seoul Series,' will be held in Seoul for the first time. EXO's Baekhyun will sing both the Korean and American anthems for the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres game scheduled for March 21, held at Gocheok Sky Dome.
Everything I've seen from him playing games and doing interviews (with a translator), he seems to be a really nice and genuine person.
