BLACKPINK's Jennie recently shared insights into her decision to part ways with YG Entertainment for solo activities and establishing her own agency.
On January 2, Jennie participated in filming as the first guest on KBS 2TV's highly anticipated music talk show 'The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet,' hosted by legendary artist Lee Hyori. This is her first official solo activity since establishing her agency 'ODD ATELIER.'
The global K-pop artist shared, "This is the first time appearing on a KBS music program. I came to see Hyori unnie. Thank you for inviting me."
During the interview, Lee Hyori expressed curiosity about why Jennie established her own agency. Jennie explained, "I will continue to do group activities (with YG) but I wanted to do solo activities more freely so I carefully established (my own label)."
Jennie continued, "There is a crew of people that were with me for a long time (at my label). I wanted to freely do any activities and promotions."
She also revealed the meaning of her agency's name, 'ODD ATELIER.' Jennie explained, "It contains the intention to do well even if my path is strange and different from others. Please show a lot of support in the future."
Jennie also expressed her affection toward YG and explained, "It's a company I've been with since my trainee days, so I learned a lot (from YG). We still have a good relationship."
Meanwhile, 'The Seasons' is a KBS late-night music program that presents a total of four seasons. Jay Park, Jannabi's Choi Jung Hoon, and AKMU have hosted the previous seasons. The show garnered much attention as it was revealed Lee Hyori would be the fourth host.
'The Seasons - Lee Hyori's Red Carpet' will air its first episode with Jennie on January 5 at 11:20 PM KST.
YGE was super stingy with the way it managed BlackPink. It really seemed to affect Jennie the most, because she straight up look disinterested on stage so many times, at least when performing in Korea. Hopefully, now that she's in control of her destiny, she'll be more lively and active with promotions.
