A female MBC announcer expressed her opinion on actor Lee Sun Gyun's death and openly criticized the media.
On December 27, announcer Lee Sun Young (age 36) left a message on her Facebook offering condolences to the bereaving family of Lee Sun Gyun.
She wrote, "We cannot know how the late Lee Sun Gyun felt when it comes to his death but I want to point out the exclusive reports made by KBS."
KBS previously released a confidential phone conversation between Lee Sun Gyun and the entertainment establishment manager 'A.'
In the voice recording, Lee Sun Gyun is heard confessing his feelings to the manager by saying, "I really like you too. You know that right?" The manager responds, "I don't know. Since you don't express it."
Announcer Lee Sun Young criticized, "The conversation in the call with the person identified as the manager of an entertainment establishment should have remained private. While it's possible to criticize the actions of the deceased, I don't know what journalistic value there was in that report, except ruining someone's life."
She continued, "That report is just a 'knife' wielded not just at the late Lee Sun Gyun but it stabbed innocent people, his wife and children. It is a lasting scar that would be difficult to heal in this digital era when everything is preserved on the internet."
Lee Sun Young continued, "His decision (to take his own life) was wrong. I'm worried about the family he left behind. I hope the people around them can protect them well. I loved his acting. May he rest in peace..."

I’m glad that a journalist finally reacted about the phone conversation that got leaked by KBS. It has been circulating everywhere since this morning while it concern ABSOLUTELY NO ONE except him and his wife.
They’ve been doing a very disgusting job since day 1 and each time they keep going lower and lower just to milk more views as no one dares to question them !
it’s a shame it has come to a point they don’t even care if their actions have consequences on the relatives of the late actor. His family should definitely not let this pass.
Those who’ve known Sunkyun also knows how much him and Hyejin loved each other, I’m worried about her. I hope his wife and kids would be well take care and supported for a long time 😞
