Yoon Ji Sung's response to a fan's sexist remarks is gaining attention.
Recently, Yoon Ji Sung communicated with fans through the fan community platform Bubble, where he updated them during his military reserve forces' training. Responding to one fan in particular, Yoon Ji Sung expressed, "I'm answering because the questions are 'Why are you dressed gay,' and 'Can't you do your hair like a man?'"
Yoon Ji Sung gave his thoughts on the fan's remarks, writing, "I don't think there's anything that's gay in that way in the world. I can wear skirts and grow my hair. What is the definition of feminine? I think there is no 'manly' hair, actions, or words. I hope you don't make sexist remarks. You may not like my hair, makeup, and outfits, but I don't think that should lead to sexist remarks. I can wear anything and do anything, and so can you."
The idol continued to explain, "I didn't say this to fight, but this is something we all have to be careful about socially. I also wrote this in the sense that we should be careful and be careful with each other. Let's live this short life as pretty as we can before we go."
Though some netizens complained about Yoon Ji Sung making these comments on a paid fan communication platforms, others praised Yoon Ji Sung's statements. Fans commented, "You spoke really nicely," "Your response was so good," and "You don't usually think of these things as a sexist or discrimination issue, but this was really great."
Yoon Ji Sung made his debut as a member of the 'Produce 101 Season 2' project group Wanna One and later debuted as a solo artist in February of 2019. After enlisting for his mandatory military service in May of 2019, he was officially discharged in December 2020. He most recently dropped the single "Summer Island" for the 'Yaoki Project' this past July.
