On November 1, Holland, an openly gay K-pop artist, utilized his social media platform to address an ongoing issue regarding inappropriate questions from fans. Sharing a screenshot from his Instagram Live, Holland highlighted a message from a fan questioning, "Are you a TaeKook shipper?"
In response to this and similar queries, Holland took the opportunity to respectfully request that fans refrain from asking him to speculate on the sexual orientations, dating status, or 'shipping' of fellow K-pop male idols. He emphasized that such questions can be intrusive and disrespectful to the individuals involved, and admitted that they also place him in an uncomfortable position.
"Please don't ask me about whether 'taekook' or any other K-pop male idols are gay or dating. It can be disrespectful to them, and it makes me uncomfortable."
He continued, "I don't want to know who might be LGBTQ+ in the K-pop industry, and even if I did, I wouldn't want to discuss it."
Many fans are agreeing with Holland and saying such questions are inappropriate and idols deserve their respect and privacy.
