On October 10 KST new images were released of Rowoon, lead actor of KBS2's upcoming drama 'The Matchmakers'. The actor recently opened up about his anticipation and challenges in returning to historical dramas. This marks his second foray into the genre, following a successful run in the historical drama ‘The King's Affection.’
'The Matchmakers' revolves around two characters from the Joseon Dynasty - a sire and a widow, corresponding to an old bachelor and an old maid of current times. In a humorous twist, they engage in a 'wedding battle' inspired by a matchmaking interaction gone awry. This results in a hilarious presentation that echoes the classic British rom-com 'Love Actually,' drawing comparisons to the vibrancy and charm of the original.
Rowoon will portray Shim Jeong Woo, a principled man often considered 'the most irritable man in Joseon.' During a recent interview, Rowoon shared his reasons for signing onto 'The Matchmakers,' acknowledging his desire to explore comedy, a genre he finds both challenging and intriguing. He emphasized his eagerness to push his boundaries and step out of his comfort zone into comic acting.
Rowoon also expressed his exhilaration for resuming historical roles, mentioning his intent to bring a different flavor to his new character in 'The Matchmakers.' He shared his excitement, assuring fans, “I’m looking forward to it too.”
KBS2's 'The Matchmakers' is set to air starting October 30 KST.
