Be prepared

Fan calls are usually shorter than you imagine. They usually range from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and that is really not a long time, especially with the language barrier. So, make sure you plan out everything you want to say and/or do beforehand! Don't waste your time thinking of stuff on the spot because your time will be up before you know it!

Use headphones

Whatever device you decide to use (phone, tablet, laptop) using headphones or earbuds with a microphone will give both you and the idol the best experience. It's hard for the idols to hear you if your microphone isn't the best, and you'll have a hard time hearing them, too, if you are far away from the source of sound. This will cause you to lose more of your precious time with your idol!

Write your messages

Especially with the language barrier, consider using a notebook or whiteboard to write your messages on. This way, if there happens to be a connection or audio problem, you’ll be able to show the artists exactly what you want to say. This is also an excellent way to overcome language barriers; writing your message in Korean in advance so you can ensure that it is well understood.

What to say?

Like "(your name), good luck with your studies! You can do it!" You can also do it vice-versa and be the one complimenting them instead! They will certainly appreciate it. Whatever you choose to say/ask, make sure they're all appropriate so you don't make the idols uncomfortable. 

What to wear?

Dressing up for the occasion is completely up to you — feel free to express yourself through your attire, be it casual or dressed up. While there's no formal dress code, it's essential to maintain a respectful and appropriate appearance to foster a comfortable environment for everyone involved. Whether you choose to style your hair in a special way, put on a striking makeup look, or even don a fun costume to bring a smile to your idol's face, ensure your choices are in good taste and devoid of any offensive elements. Keep your phone on 'do not disturb' 

To ensure that your video call session isn't interrupted by any notifications or phone calls, make sure to keep your device on 'do not disturb.' This way, any notifications or incoming phone calls will be silenced during that session! 

Do test calls

Before your session starts, make sure you do a few test calls to ensure your internet connection, app (whatever app they chose to conduct the calls with), camera, microphone, and lighting are perfect and ready.
