Yuehua Entertainment has issued an official statement in response to the removal of Choi Ye Na's "Hate Rodrigo" MV from distribution platforms.
The agency clarified,
"Hello, this is Yuehua Entertainment.
We would like to notify you details regarding the MV for Choi Ye Na's 2nd single album title track, 'Hate Rodrigo'.
It was discovered that scenes in this music video had issues related to trademark infringement, infringement of portrait rights, and copyright infringement, and thus the video was removed temporarily on June 29. The agency is currently working to revise its contents. We would like to take this opportunity to apologize for discovering these issues too late, and taking action without proper explanation, which caused the confusion. The agency will re-upload the music video as soon as it is fully revised.
Furthermore, we would like to clarify that this video was not removed per Olivia Rodrigo's request. The company did not receive any such request, and in the hopes that there will be no cause for misunderstandings between the artists involved and their fans, we ask that you all refrain from spreading false, speculative information.
We appreciate your love and interest in Choi Ye Na's new album, and we will take to heart your comments and criticism and repay you with better music and content.
Thank you."
Immediately after the release of Choi Ye Na's "Hate Rodrigo" MV, many netizens pointed out the extensive use of Olivia Rodrigo's portraits in various scenes, leading to buzz over suspected portrait right infringement. Then, when the music video was removed from YouTube without notice, some media outlets reported that Olivia Rodrigo's side had requested for the removal of Choi Ye Na's video.
This is such a cheap publicity stunt...
