SM Entertainment has released a statement asking fans to stop sending EXO's Kai mail during his military training.
On May 12, SM Entertainment posted a statement to the Kwangya Club fan community to ask EXO-L to refrain from sending mail to Kai. The label stated, "With EXO-L's warm support, Kai was able to safely enter the training center. We're providing a notice of cooperation to EXO-L as we think a lot of internet letters and mail are being sent to Kai during his training."
The label further stated, "We understand that fans are worried for and support Kai, but when a large amount of mail comes all at once to the training center, they're difficult to store and may become lost. There are also many difficulties that may arise at the center, including the delay in delivering the letters of other soldier trainees. We ask that you refrain from using internet letters and sending mail as much as possible during Kai's training."
SME then asked that fans leave messages for Kai in his Bubble messages or on the Kwangya Club EXO-L community.
Kai enlisted for his mandatory military service on May 11, and following basic training, he'll be serving as a public service worker.

Idols already have so much pressure and scrutiny upon them from other soldiers not only due to their celebrity status, but also due to the inherent favoritism that has sometimes happened in the past. As a result, soldiers can become frustrated and might unfairly target someone that they feel might be getting special treatment, even if that isn’t the case. The less attention they get so they can blend in and get their service done, the better. Considering how incredibly popular Kai is, as well as the outcry from the fans due to the abrupt announcement of enlistment, they’re likely trying to quell any potential issues that could arise for him. He needs calm right now, because it appears that he was just as surprised at the sudden enlistment as well, so this is likely overwhelming for him. The mental prep anyone enlisting goes through is intense.
