On November 26, the 'Ripples for Hope 2022: A K-Pop Friendship Day & Night' show and sports festival took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, which featured a star-studded lineup including EVERGLOW, Momoland, and AKMU.
Prior to the night show, 19 different K-Pop fan clubs, including fans of ITZY, TWICE, Monsta X, NCT, Girls' Generation, Super Junior, EXO, Winner, TREASURE, GFriend, Stray Kids, and ATEEZ, competed in six games over the course one day. In the end, fans of Seventeen placed second, fans of Apink and Girl's Day placed first, and fans of BigBang and iKON were the Ripple Champions of the event.
EVERGLOW, who were dressed in stylish black outfits, began the night show with a strong, commanding performance of the 80s retro electropop track "LA DI DA" from the album '-77.82x-78.29.' The iconic line "EVERGLOW" then comes next, fronted by the captivating whistle melody, and the girls then take the stage with their alluring performance of "Adios" from the album 'HUSH.' Fans yelled "Goodbye au revoir adios" in unison as they sang along to the line.
"I'm happy because our dream to perform in the Philippines has come true," said E:U. Also conveyed by the group was the enthusiasm of Filipino fans, who were seen dancing to their music by everyone. "We hope we can meet again soon," the group added.
Meanwhile, EVERGLOW is set to perform in Manila once again in December at the New Frontier Theater for their first solo concert as part of their upcoming Asia tour.
With a swaying dance routine and the brief, slow "Dun dun" chant, EVERGLOW filled the stage with their unmatched stage presence as they performed "DUN DUN," which was another example of the girls' vocal and dancing prowess. Singing "girls all over the world," EVERGLOW finished their set with an incredible performance of "Pirate" from their 'Return of the Girl' EP.
Momoland then performed the catchy, melodic song "Yummy Yummy Love" to kick off their run while decked out in black and yellow-themed suits. The group continued their set with a lighthearted performance of "Ready Or Not" from their third single album of the same name.
Nancy exclaimed, "It's been so long since we were here; we missed you so much." JooE further stated that they were disappointed with their brief stay in Manila this time as opposed to their previous stays of one to two weeks. "We're thankful that you always welcome us," they said, expressing their appreciation for the kindness.
Next, Momoland performed "Wrap Me In Plastic" while bursting with doll-like visuals. The audience loudly cheered as the girls prepared to perform the final two songs, "BBoom BBoom" and "Baam," two of the girl group's well-known hit songs. The crowd joined in on the iconic song's choreography as the group performed "BBoom BBoom," lighting up the stage with their bubbly and adorable performance. After that, Momoland performed "Baam" brilliantly to close out their set.
After a brief delay, the South Korean duo AKMU entered the stage while facing their stand microphones and a live band, to loud applause from the audience. With their soul-soothing live vocal prowess, they graced the stage while performing the first songs from their set, "Hey Kid, Close Your Eyes," "Nakka," "Dinosaur," and "How People Move." The distinctive voices of Sunhyuk and Chanhyuk blended well together, perfectly complementing the duo's striking sounds.
Suhyun expressed her joy at being able to perform in the Philippines for the first time during the segment, as well as her appreciation for the warm welcome they received, saying, "Since it's our first time here, to give you amazing performances, we brought our band!"
The siblings then performed the second set of songs, including the lively single "How People Move," delivering a freewheeling party vibe with the crowd, "Don't Cross Your Legs," and "Love Loss," which left a lasting impression on the audience thanks to the way their young, endearing voices were delivered.
For the last set of songs, AKMU continued to exude unmatched vocal skills with their performances of "How Can I Love The Heartbreak, You're The One I Love," "Last Goodbye," and "Give Love." Their feel-good vocals performing their ballad tracks were a breath of fresh air. Witnessing the duo's live soothing vocals with their live band made the night even more memorable.
"When we are in Korea, we are receiving your loved through SNS," said Suhyun, adding, "Please wait for us. We'll come back."
AKMU chose "200%" and "Let's Take Time" to conclude their brilliantly done live performances before saying goodbye to fans at the end of the two-hour night show. The duo was able to showcase their angelic, crystal clear voices that resonated strongly throughout the entire arena throughout their lengthy 11-song run, and fans would definitely love for AKMU to come back and see them perform live again.
