The year 2022 has been a bit bumpy for YG Entertainment as many of its artists have decided to part ways with the label.
Although it is typical for artists to seek out new agencies when their contract with their former label ends, an unusually high number of artists have departed from YG Entertainment this year.
Starting with Big Bang member T.O.P, followed by Taeyang and Daesung, all three revealed that they will be parting ways with YG Entertainment. T.O.P announced his departure from YG Entertainment earlier this year in February, and Taeyang announced he will be moving to The Black Label, an associated company of YG Entertainment. Soon after, Daesung also revealed that he will be leaving YG Entertainment. Now, G-Dragon is the only member of Big Bang to remain with YG.
Not only that, two TREASURE members decided to part ways with the label this year. Just after two years of promoting with TREASURE, Bang Ye Dam and Mashiho chose to leave the group and the agency. Bang Ye Dam explained he wanted to pursue his dreams as a producer and decided to leave YG Entertainment. Meanwhile, Mashiho decided to leave due to health reasons.
Already, YG Entertainment had lost many artists this year, but on December 30, the agency revealed that all 6 members of iKON decided to leave the label. With all six members leaving YG Entertainment, a total of 11 artists have decided to leave the company in 2022.
Additionally, K-netizens have noticed that there are actors under YG Entertainment whose contracts are about to expire and expect more celebrities to potentially leave the company.
Netizens commented, "Wow, everyone is leaving YG," "Right now, there are singers and actors leaving YG after their contracts expired...I heard BLACKPINK will go to The Black Label too, wonder what's going to happen to YG," "What's going on YG?" "This is really shocking...YG is about to go down," "I hope B.I. joins iKON again," and "YG right now: 🕸🕸🧹🕷"
