Last week, we took a preliminary look at quite possibly one of the most legendary years in k-pop -- 2011. We already established that the year was a hit by looking at artists such as Wonder Girls, Girls' Generation, T-ara, BEAST, and Sistar.
Today -- we'll be continuing the legacy to check out some more artists that shined in 2011. It may already be eleven years ago, but we already know that most of you guys still have many of these songs on your jam playlist. Something about these songs gets us in the vibes and makes us feel nostalgic. That's why this post is dedicated to getting that reminiscing sentiment out of you. So let's take a look and see what other songs truly made 2011 quite possibly one of the best years in k-pop!
KARA
After a shaky year of disbandment rumors due to tension with DSP, the girls opted out of canceling their contract and made an epic return with "STEP." This song was such a bop, and it is quite possibly one of their biggest hits! Everyone remembers the iconic hip dance that was just amazing!
Super Junior
Super Junior was known to release catchy songs, and their two previous albums delivered exactly the epitome of "catchy." But when they returned in 2011, it was game over because no song could be catchier than "Mr. Simple." They saw record album sales and topped the charts with this track!
IU
IU became the nation's little sister with the three-pitch high note on "Good Day," and she continued her legacy by making a return in the winter of 2011 with her song "You & I." The song topped the charts, and she won #1 on music shows for six consecutive weeks!
G.NA
G.NA had two hit songs in 2011. One in the first half of the year - "Black & White," which immediately brought her up as one of the most anticipated solo artists of the year. She continued in the summer with her release "Top Girl," which really portrayed that she was top-tier status! Who else misses G.NA?
Brown Eyed Girls
After a two-year hiatus, Brown Eyed Girls returned in 2011 with a FIERCE comeback that no one would have expected. Their high note on "Sixth Sense" blew everyone away and illustrated that they are one of the most talented girl groups in the industry!
Big Bang
Everyone was looking forward to Big Bang's return after a long hiatus, and they were able to deliver exactly what fans wanted. Returning with "TONIGHT," the group returned as a full group for their fourth mini album, and the entire country was going absolutely nuts!
A PINK
A PINK, who made their 10th-anniversary special album comeback this year, actually debuted in 2011. Amongst the fierce competition in the industry, they were able to show their presence with an innocent concept, and the public saw them very positively! The group returned the same year with "My My," and they were also able to kill it by earning their first #1!
f(x)
f(x) also saw a huge year, returning with "Pinocchio." However, that wasn't all, as the group released a mega-hit summer song that is still widely listened to today and is still an unofficial national summer anthem - "Hot Summer."
Dal Shabet
Dal Shabet also made their hot debut in 2011 as well, as one of the first groups to debut in 2011. The group was highly anticipated as it was produced by E-TRIBE, the producer who wrote Girls' Generation's "Gee" and Lee Hyori's "U-Go-Girl." 2011 was definitely a busy year for these ladies as they released not one, not two, but THREE tracks - "Supa Dupa Diva," which charted #5 on Music Bank, "Pink Rocket," and "Bling Bling."
Noeul
Ballad quad Noeul returned for the first time to the music industry in nearly four years, and they absolutely slayed the charts with their song "I Miss You." It became the winter melody of the year, and many men revealed that it was their favorite song to sing at karaoke!
Infinite
2011 was a special year for Infinite as they were able to get their first win with their hit track "Be Mine!" All the female fans were going absolutely crazy for this track as they genuinely wanted to be Infinite's "mine!"
After School
After School returned with their first full-length album and the only album as a nine-member group in 2011! The song "Shampoo" was highly sophisticated, and Playgirlz were happy to see the group. The stage looked so full, and it was interesting to see a five-member group in 2009 expand to nearly twice its size in just two years!
5Dolls
If you remember 5Dolls, then you are a true fan of OG k-pop! After a rocky start as Co-Ed School, 5Dolls branched out as its own girl group and released two catchy tracks that are still widely remembered today - "It's You" and "Like This or That."
