Jimin's social media presence is being recognized for helping Jeju's economy.
From the 1st to the 12th of July, Jimin, through his Instagram account, was the #1 K-pop star with the most followers according to statistics from K-pop Radar, an objective fandom data observatory.
Jimin, who surpassed 38 Million followers on the 6th of July, is now at 38.9 Million followers, and his individual hashtag #Jimin remains the most used for any individual on the platform at 69 Million posts. He achieved this seven months after creating his account and with only 23 posts with no stories, reels, or live broadcasts.
It is this impact that the Jeju Transportation Welfare Newspaper reported on as leading to the revitalization of Jeju's economy during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last year, when Jimin posted a photo of his trip to Jeju on Instagram, a lot of tourists flocked to it, making it a popular hot spot. The Jimin tour included the Snoopy Garden, the Grape museum, and Nuwemaru Street was created to guide tourists who wanted to follow in Jimin's footsteps. The artists Y0ngmini and Kangsage, who created the Nuwemaru mural, attracted attention as visitors took commemorative photos there. The former continues to post his Jimin-inspired artwork on his Instagram account. At the time, Korean media reported on how his visit had a rejuvenating economic effect, with residents attesting to it. Countless fans also made trips to the city to follow in his footsteps, and the Jeju Tourism Organization organized a prize-winning contest to encourage more tourists.
Thanks to his visit, Jeju city then took second place in the January urban brand reputation rankings, rising from the 11th spot in November and December. This showed Jimin's impact and positive effect thanks to the visit.
Recently on the 7th, Singer Lee Ji-Hye followed in Jimin's footsteps when she visited the Snoopy garden and shared it on her youtube channel. In the video, she said, 'We came to the place where BTS Jimin visited,' and they could be seen having fun along with other tourists at the park.
Jimin is so impactful, everyone cares about what he post on SNS because his followers are real people not bots, just one post of him raised a whole island economy
he isn’t even that social media lover, yet his impact in social media is much bigger than any advertisement
