With his new bold direction as a soloist, j-hope is gaining invaluable respect from the movers and shakers of the global music industry.
On the 5th of July, the Grammy Awards listed j-hope’s upcoming album, “Jack In the Box,” in its “10 Must-Hear Albums in July 2022”. He shares the spotlight with Beyonce, Lizzo, and Burna Boy.
The Grammy Awards writes, "Having learned music through dance, the performer has always been original and bright, and this new album will surely showcase how his sound has matured over the years. J-Hope will show the world his own flavor as a solo artist. He's already making history as the first South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major U.S. music festival via his highly anticipated debut at Lollapalooza 2022 later this month. With so many accomplishments already under his belt, J-Hope will surely release one of the can't-miss albums of 2022 via Jack In The Box.”
In 2018, the Grammy Awards also acknowledged the success of “Hope World,” j-hope’s first mixtape that was self-produced, self-composed, and self-written by the artist. It reports, “'Daydream' keeps things light but super catchy, and as j-hope awakens in the end, the shadow of an imposing airliner crosses his wall. Now we know that shadow was presaging the powerful bounce on 'Airplane' which manages to be bumping and luxurious at the same time.”
Last 1 July, j-hope unveiled “More,” the pre-lease track to his upcoming album, "Jack In The Box." The song is a unique mix of hip-hop, rap, and grunge — and is a 180-degree turn from his image as a K-pop idol. But j-hope’s gamble is paying off, especially in establishing his worth as a genuine and visionary artist.
Apart from the Grammy Awards, music magazines validate j-hope’s recent artistic accomplishment, proving his worth and place of honor as BTS's first solo runner.
On their Twitter accounts, music journalists Tetris Kelley (Billboard), Mary Siroky (Consequence), and Jae Ha Kim (Rolling Stone, Chicago Tribune, and Teen Vogue) praise j-hope’s versatility and growth as an artist.
On Spotify, “More” debuted at #9 on the Global Spotify Daily Chart, the highest debut for any Korean soloist, and is currently at #18 five days after its release.
J-Hope is a versatile artist with his own unique style.
