Hanteo chart will be launching the first ever '2021 Hanteo Music Awards' ('HMA') in partnership with the Whosfan app.
Taking place as a digital ceremony this year due to the spread of COVID-19, the '2021 Hanteo Music Awards' will announce the winners of 6 special award categories unique to the Hanteo chart: ▲ The First Week Sales Record Award ▲ The Artist Award ▲ The Rookie Award ▲ The Whosfan Fandom Award ▲ The Special Award.
As its name indicates, the First Week Sales Record Award will be given to the artist who set the highest record for first-week sales in 2021. The Artist Award will be given to the artist who had the greatest influence in the success of the music industry in 2021, while the Rookie Award will chose the best new artist who represented 2021. The Special Award takes into account global user data from Hanteo chart, as well as fan votes via the Whosfan app. Finally, the Whosfan Fandom Award is one chosen 100% by fans, and is given to both the artist and their fanclub for their online power.
A representative of Hanteo chart revealed, "By launching this year's award ceremony, we hope to establish a new milestone within the Korean music industry that is based on fairness and loyalty, qualities which have been built up during Hanteo chart's past 30 years. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no large-scale ceremony this year, but in the future, we hope to meet with global K-Pop fans and celebrate together."
Meanwhile, the '2021 Hanteo Music Awards' will announce its award winners on the following dates: The First Week Sales Record Award (December 20), The Artist Award (December 27), The Rookie Award (January 3) The Whosfan Fandom Award (January 7), and The Special Award (January 10).
Good that one of the titles is ''Fandom Award''...not that joke named ''Popularity...'' as it was so far
