Golden Child adds to the list of re-packages out this week as they debut two new songs on their re-package of Game Changer. Entitled DDARA, these two new songs are a bit of a concept change from the intensity of Game Changer.
"DDARA" is the group's chosen title, and it is a minimalist concept that focuses on an R&B pop sound. With the inclusion of ultra-90s inspired synth and drum breaks, this song has a slightly vintage feel. However, much to my dismay, the song doesn't leave the same impression the tracks from Game Changer did. Though the funky chorus is enjoyable, the song lacks in oomph.
In contrast, "OASIS" is much more uplifting in nature. From vocal delivery to overall production, there's a much more ethereal and moving feeling that surrounds this track. When compared to "DDARA," "OASIS" paints a picture that's significantly more vivid. As a result, the song is radiant and whimsical in nature. Of the two new additions, "OASIS" is far superior.
MV REVIEW
Opting for sophistication and maturity, Golden Child aims to showcase a suave style in simple black and white shots in their MV for "DDARA." Though the refined feel is there, the video lacks a sense of intrigue, as the entire video only switched between the shots of the members in the ornate green room and in an empty black and white concept. For that reason, the MV felt a bit blander than other concepts the group has done. A bit of visual variation would have done this song more justice.
