Stray Kids meaningful win has turned controversial.
On April 4, the JYP Entertainment boy group had their first-ever music show win on Mnet's 'M Countdown.' The members immediately broke down in tears after being announced the winner for the first time.
Unfortunately, their win has become a topic of controversy. The reason is due to their scores. The weekly winner is determined by 'Digital Single Sales' (45%), 'Album Sales' (15%), 'Social Media Points (20%), 'Global Fan Votes' (10%), and 'Broadcast Score' (10%).
Haeun, Yosep, the other nominee for the 1st place, had a score of zero in the 'Album Sales' and 'Global Fan Votes' categories, which take up 25% of the total score. Meanwhile, Stray Kids scored zero in 'Digital Single Sales' - the largest portion of the entire score (45%).
Stray Kids' score for 'Digital Single Sales' showed as zero because their track "Miroh" wasn't ranked in the top 1000 on music charts. With this in mind, netizens criticized their win.
Comments stated, "What? How did they win when their score is zero lolol Classic Mnet," "This is why there's no trust in music show scores," "This is nonsense. How can you have none in 'Digital Single Sales,'" "Rank out of 1000 on music charts but win #1 music shows... lol" "This is why music show wins have no meaning."
They won fair and square. I sense a bunch of bitter antis trying to start shit. They won and they deserved it so get over it.
