Nam Tae Hyun opened up why he left WINNER, relationship with the members, and more.
In a recent interview with Ilgan Sports, Nam Tae Hyun addressed the various rumors and controversies surrounding him.
Out of all, the questions on his departure from WINNER and YG Entertainment were up first. On the issue, Nam Tae Hyun stated, "There were many internal issues since it's a business involving people working together. First, I wasn't good with the group lifestyle. I struggled mentally at the time."
He continued, "I feel like it's unmannerly to be clearly explaining/laying out the reasons why I left YG in any interviews or through any media outlets. But what I can clearly say is that my departure wasn't a result of a certain incident. It also means I didn't make a huge mistake or anything. I had mental struggles during promotions, there were differences in musical opinions, and I struggled with the group lifestyle. There were many reasons in general, so I still had 5 years left in my contract but I decided to leave YG Entertainment. To be honest, leaving YG Entertainment is a loss in my life. Everyone around me tried to stop me from leaving but I was mentally struggling so hard and I wasn't able to stand it, not because it was YG but just the situation."
Nam Tae Hyun also opened about the rumors on him having bad relationships with the WINNER members. He said, "In my personal opinion, WINNER is a team that has no issues among the members. I was titled 'Fiery Maknae'. I was the only one with a strong personality. The members always talked and acted reasonably. WINNER is a very kind group. In my perspective, there might've been differences and conflicts musically but there wasn't a bad relationship."
