
On March 5th KST, tvN officially announced the long-awaited return of ‘Signal’ with its second season, titled ‘The Second Signal’. The network stated, “The beloved drama ‘Signal’ will return as ‘The Second Signal.’ Production is now in full swing, with plans to air in the first half of next year to mark tvN’s 20th anniversary.”
Originally aired in 2016, ‘Signal’ is a crime thriller about detectives from the past and present who connect through a mysterious radio transmission, solving long-unsolved cold cases. With its unique time-bending premise, emotional storytelling, and unforgettable quotes like “The past can change. Don’t give up.”, the drama was highly praised and remains a classic in Korean television.
Scheduled for release in early next year, ‘The Second Signal’ will reunite the original cast:
• Kim Hye Soo as cold case squad detective Cha Soo Hyun
• Cho Jin Woong as veteran detective Lee Jae Han
• Lee Je Hoon as profiler Park Hae Young
Additionally, Kim Eun Hee, the writer of the original series, is returning to pen the script. Directing the sequel is Ahn Tae Jin, known for writing and directing the film ‘The Night Owl’.
Since season 1 ended on an open note, hinting at the survival of long-missing Lee Jae Han, fans are eager to see how the story unfolds in season 2.
The production team shared their excitement, stating, “We are preparing an even more immersive and compelling season 2 to reward the love that ‘Signal’ has received. Please look forward to ‘The Second Signal’ and give it your support.”
