On December 27, one of Korea's biggest home shopping networks, GS Homeshopping channel, revealed the 'Top 10' list featuring popular tracks that were played in the background on the program from January 1-December 25, 2017.
The number one most selected track was Red Velvet's "Rookie". Other songs by Red Velvet such as "Bad Dracula" and "Red Flavor" came in 3rd and 5th place respectively.
Previously, Girls' Generation was the first idol group to feature 3 tracks on the 'Top 10' list back in 2009.
Meanwhile, TWICE's "Knock Knock" scored 2nd place and "Signal" came in 8th position.
AOA's "Excuse Me" took hold of 4th place, while Dal Shabet's song "Fly Boy" ranked 6th place. "Fingertip" by G-Friend was 7th place, and April took 9th place "Muah!". Finally, last but not least, Girls' Generation scored 10th place with "Holiday".
Background music plays an essential role in marketing, as sales reached its highest peak with these fun, upbeat melodies.
Yoo Young Yeol from GS Homeshopping explained, "In the past, we selected instrumental songs so customers can focus on the products. But recently, we put in much thought into how the products can shine using background music. Vibrant, popular girl group tracks made a significant impact on sales."
