The mass general strike of MBC's and KBS's employees which began this past September 4 has taken a toll on various weekly broadcasts.
On September 6, it was reported that currently airing MBC Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Hospital Ship' halted airing mid-broadcast, and an informative broadcast about emergency procedures to take in case of natural disasters took the air for approximately 10 minutes, in between episodes 5 & 6.
Episode 6 resumed airing after the informative broadcast, as well as over 2 minutes of programmed advertisements. During the incident, MBC simply stated, "Due to circumstances within the broadcasting station, the drama is being delayed." According to insiders, the ongoing mass general strike did not leave enough employees on hand to finish preparing episode 6 in time for its regular time slot, and MBC was forced to hire employees from external sources to complete the job.
It's unclear whether or not 'Hospital Ship' will continue airing in its regular time slot on September 7. Meanwhile, MBC variety show 'Radio Star' will be taking a break from regular broadcasts on the same day, with a special episode being aired instead.
