The idol was asked about recently having changed her legal name, and she explained the change was suggested to avoid bad luck. She shared, "I'm still promoting with my stage name Nara, but I changed my legal name from Kwon Nara to Kwon Ahyoon. In truth, the reason why I changed it was because my parents had a lot of say. I fell ill fairly often during my promotions over the years. I've had experience undergoing surgery several times. My parents said that I needed to change my name, for my health. The surprising thing is I'd been living with this persistent throat cold for about 3-4 months, but once I changed my legal name, it disappeared right away. Isn't it surprising?"
Nara then explained what her new legal name Ahyoon meant. She said, "It uses Chinese characters. Ah stands for 'I', and Yoon is for 'to shine bright'. Before, the name Nara did not use Chinese characters, but now I have a name with Chinese characters."
