The girls stated in the interview that although they are gaining popularity, "We won't lose our original intentions" and "we are still very much thankful for every little thing."
With their new title song "Fingertip," G-Friend received much attention when it was released on March 6.
Q: How do you feel about ranking #1 on music charts?
Sowon: It was a mixture of both worry and excitement. It was mainly due to all the changes in our concept. Luckily, the teaser was well received by fans and for the first time we were on real-time search rankings during a teaser release. I wasn't able to sleep all that well because I was worried but thanks to all the public interest I gained energy and made me want to work hard and start the promotions.
Q: What made you change your concept?
SinB: Umji and I became more mature after graduating so we decided to go for such a concept which clearly illustrated that.
Q: Are you satisfied with your new look?
SinB: We wanted to present a more dynamic appeal so we took off our uniforms, and are happy that we were able to achieve a chic look.
Q: What is your point dance?
SinB: We focused on the "tang-tang-tang" sound of a rifle firing, as well as the recoil for a realistic approach.
Sowon: Our CEO sent us an actual military photo as reference.
Q: All of you are in your 20s now, what kind of path would you girls like to go on?
Sowon: Since 'Glass Bead' we didn't think about doing the 'School Trilogy'...We would like to present songs that fit depending on the season.
Q: Along with TWICE you're often chosen as the top girl groups. You will be promoting at the same time as them, how do you feel about that?
Yerin: We are actually good friends with TWICE. I was wondering when we would promote at the same time and we get to meet them as our schedules overlap this week. We like TWICE's song and their dance choreography is good.
Sowon: We're good friends with TWICE and the members often Kakaotalk one another. We got close after we said 'We want to be friends.' Through our joint performances, I became closer to the members of the same age. We cheer each other on when we both release our teasers. We screenshot photos and say 'We saw the music video, this song is great.' They are good colleagues.
Q: There's word going around saying you became popular after your 'falling incident'?
Sowon: Honestly, it's all thanks to Yerin for making a guest appearance on 'Running Man.'
Umji: I feel like we didn't get popular because of the fall, but more of the fact that we got back up to finish our performance.
Q: What are your goals for this promotion?
Umji: Not to hurt ourselves and promote in good condition.
Sowon: We are making an official comeback after such a long hiatus. There are new changes too but we prepared extra hard and we hope that everyone would support us.
