TWICE's Mina has caused some concern because of her donning a fan-given item at a fanmeet.
The problematic item in question is a Mt. Fuji hat that features Japan's 'rising sun' flag, a symbol of their colonial periods and a painful reminder for Koreans as well as others that were once under their rule. Combined with the fact that Mina is Japanese, the photo below caused some concern before the situation was explained.
Mina was given the item by a fan at a fansigning, and she did not see the flag before she put it on. Idols always put on items that fans give them as presents at fansignings, so this isn't anything new. She also wore it only for a short time before her manager noticed the mark and made her take it off right away. Some also pointed out that the flag was not Japan's rising sun flag, but the Sun Downers mark instead. The Japanese also reads '#1 in Japan' (aka saying Mt. Fuji is the best mountain in Japan), not that Japan is the best as some originally thought. The fan who originally gifted the hat apologized for handing Mina the hat and explained that she herself had not seen the mark properly before giving it to her.
What do you think of the situation?
