SM Entertainment has confirmed EXO's Lay will be making a solo debut in China.

On September 21, the agency told media outlets, "It's true EXO's Lay is preparing a Chinese solo album, but the release date has not been confirmed yet." Lay will be the first EXO member to officially make a solo debut, and the first member to make a solo debut overseas as well.
He's already met Chinese viewers as an actor, but this is Lay's chance to stand on stage as a singer solo.
