A.CIAN - TOUCH

Debuting back in 2012, A.cian has gone through numerous lineup changes. But they've also dropped numerous singles since then to make sure you won't forget them. Now they're coming back with a spring single, "Touch," with their current lineup of Jin-O, Sanghyeon, Hyeokjin, and Jungsang.

The tune starts off with Jungsang singing the chorus. He's got that high tenor that works in his favor vocally. Then, inexplicably, we have a girl giggling at points, and I couldn't tell you why. It's good that K-pop is using sounds that aren't strictly music, but not good when it leaves you scratching your head. I like the vocals here, sort of one part N.Flying, another part iKON, this is one part where they shine. The rapping is on point for idol rapping, and is just good enough to be enjoyed without throwing off the flow of the song. The lyrics, like the tune, are upbeat and playful. They talk about her "unrealistic body" and they just want her to look their way and hold hands.



Need a cure for the doldrums? This is probably your ticket out. It's fun, upbeat, fluffy, and funny. It might tide you over while you're waiting for your bias' newest release.

MV REVIEW

The boys are climbing a wall to get to a cute girl that's caught their eye. They're on assorted climbing wall footholds and a rope ladder, following her long braid. Rapunzel, anyone? While this is going on they do all sorts of crazy antics to get her attention, including playing a game of whack-a-mole, with their heads as the moles!

We've got the strange assortment of clothing. The cuts are just right, but there's sometimes so much color on one piece of apparel that it almost appears garish. Next to those dayglo sets, though, it pales by comparison. Still, I was pining away for the crazy costume days...



The dancing is less-than-inspired. Fortunately, we don't get to see too much of it. It appears to be an exaggerated speed skating stance, shifting your weight around. Really, not that much to see here.

Another one of those wild and crazy videos, "Touch" is not meant to be viewed with a critical eye. The plot, such as it is, is less important than the boys and their shenanigans. If I was looking for where all the bright colors and crazy costumes went, I should have poked around A.cian's sets. It sets just the right tone for spring.
