Koreans, including idols, celebrated the country's Independence Movement Day on March 1. However, seems like solo artist Juniel wasn't able to peacefully celebrate because her SNS post has become somewhat controversial with netizens.
On March 1, she wrote on Instagram, "Today's the Independence Movement Day! It's the day when South Korea's entrance into the world was made known. I commemorate and thank our patriots who did the independence movement. Hurrah for South Korea's independence!"
However, one netizen pointed out to her, "The [actual] independence took place in 1945. The Independence Movement Day was the day when the large-scale movement for the independence came about in 1919."
Immediately, Juniel fixed her writing with, "Korea's Independence Movement Day was the day when the intention was revealed to make South Korea independent," and added, "There was some incorrect information, so I have revised it. Thank you to the person who let me know. I will remember this."

However, other netizens began leaving negative comments, so she returned to Instagram to write, "What do you mean I'm pretending to be a patriot.. It's not that I got confused with National Liberation Day and the Independence Movement Day. I even made sure one more time before I posted that writing, and when what I wrote got simply pointed out [to be erroneous], I wondered if what I wrote could have been misunderstood or if it were really wrong, and as I was unable to be certain, I did indeed edit it. It is also true that I made a mistake and that I've learned something anew. It is right for me to be criticized for that, but do not disparage me by saying it's all pretense when I said do not forget and let's remember the patriots. I will be more cautious from now on when I write posts like this!"
