Within a matter of months, Choi Jin Hyuk has left the army on a disability discharge following a knee injury.
He enlisted back on March 31, but his agency Red Brick House revealed on October 21, "Choi Jin Hyuk has been discharged for an injury this past October 16. Due to severe damage to the cartilage in his knee, Choi Jin Hyuk received cartilage stem cell transplant surgery on his left knee. The army judged that it would be hard for him to serve the military any longer due to his need for long-term treatment and rehabilitation, so he received the notice for his disability discharge."
The agency claimed that after his surgery, the actor was hoping to continue his service after a recovery, but it was deemed too difficult due to the constant treatment and rehab time.
Red Brick House stated, "His will was stronger and more sincere than anybody else's to finish his mandatory military service, but he is extremely heartbroken due to this unexpected situation. The agency likewise feels extremely that it's a shame to deliver such news. From hereon, Choi Jin Hyuk plans to focus on his treatment and recovery."
