Previously, EXO Suho's father, Professor Kim Yong Ha of Soonchunhyang University, had requested an investigation into the Cyber Crime Units after rumors began spreading online that he was a part of the New Right movement and a Chinilpa (Koreans who united with the Japanese government during the country's control of South Korea) with the intention to file a lawsuit. However, investigators found it difficult to pinpoint the exact netizen who started this all on the internet as he or she had erased all traces and fallen off the map.

However, on August 31, one netizen suddenly popped up months later to relay his or her apologies over the whole matter. The apology goes, "I acknowledge that I have defamed the mister and his son through the circulation of a false accusation; hence I now write a letter of apology and post the letter of apology [where the original rumor was written] to spread awareness of my wrongdoing and straighten out the truth.
"I had randomly edited inaccurate words that had been posted on the internet to claim that the mister leaned towards being pro-Japanese so, as a result, his son should not come out on broadcasts. However, after I checked for the truth, I found out that the sir was not a Chinilpa, nor was there any possibility of him acting out pro-Japanese behavior. Following, the words I had posted are not true, and for circulating [those words] and severely defaming their honors, I relay my deepest apologies."
