According to what the courts said today, novelist Choi Jong Rim claimed that 'Assassination' plagiarized his novel and proceeded to file a lawsuit at Seoul Central District Court against director Choi Dong Hoon, production company Caper Films, and distributor Show Box, seeking 10 million KRW (~$8.5 million USD) in damages. Further, Choi submitted an injunction application to request the immediate banning of the movie's screening. The interrogation for the injunction will take place this coming August 13.
A Caper Films rep told My Daily earlier today, "We received the petition yesterday. I think it's best if we get an accurate legal judgement," and asserted that the plagiarism accusations are groundless. "We don't know what will happen, so we've been preparing to take legal action."
