A woman who was diagnosed with MERS during her pregnancy recently gave birth to a healthy baby boy at Samsung Medical Center. The 39-year-old woman had been diagnosed with the virus after visiting her infected mother in the hospital, but was able to recover quickly. She delivered her son through a caesarian section due to complications unrelated to the virus.
The medical team declared her virus-free a day before her son's arrival, making her the first pregnant woman infected with MERS to have a safe, healthy birth.
According to doctors, both mother and son are healthy and doing well. They both remain virus-free.
