This is my first original feature, and I hope you guys like it! A few of the songs are remakes and not the original version, but what the heck, this is my playlist.
10. 2PM - "Don't Stop Can't Stop"
2PM is my favorite group of all time. I love this song and this album because it captures the feeling of being down at the very bottom but still remaining strong and fighting your way back up to the top. I feel like I'm capable of anything just by listening to this track.
9. Epik High - "Love, Love, Love"
"Love, Love, Love" is a beautiful song, along with their older tracks "Fly", "Paris" and "One". It's a breakup song and there a ton of breakup songs out there, but it's so specific and sincere, about writing letters you never sent, erasing a number (on your phone) though you've already memorized it, and things like that. And the rap is so smooth and Casker's Yoonjin has a beautiful, soft voice.
8. Big Bang - "loser"
I loved this song as soon as I heard it. The lyrics are so deep, about regretting who you were in the past and what you've become. I love songs that are about different emotions and feelings than the typical breakup song or typical falling-in-love song.
It's hard to imagine the Big Bang members as 'losers', but they sure do sing it well.
7. BTS - "I Need U"
I find this song so catchy, especially the chorus "I need you girl!"
BTS always has title tracks with smart lyrics, and this isn't any different. I think it's one of their best songs yet.
6. SECRET's Ji eun - "25"
I think this song perfectly captures the essence of finally becoming a young woman instead of a 'kid'. She also looks super pretty. I like the chorus "Beautiful, young and free. I think I now know what love is."
5. EXO - "Paradise" (cover)
The original was sung by T-Max as an OST for 'Boys Over Flowers', but I like EXO's version better because I think their voices suit the song more and their English pronunciation is way better, too. They just have beautiful voices, don't you think?
Honorable mentions: "Lucky", "XOXO" and "Peter Pan". They all capture the innocence of young love and it's beautiful.
4. iKON - "Long Time No See"
There's a studio version that's been released but honestly, their live is better. And you can't say that for a lot of idol groups. I absolutely love the lyrics for this, about having to be away from the person you love because you were overcoming hardship, and now is the moment you've come back.
Listen to the rap lyrics from Bobby and B.I, those are the best part of the song.
3. Bobby - "YGGR" (cover)
Yes, I understand this is a 'Show Me the Money' remake of 1llionaire Records' track, but can you blame me for liking Bobby's powerful version better? I had trouble choosing which 'Show Me the Money' song of Bobby's to add in here because I also love "Bounce", "L4L", and "Go". There's such overflowing stage presence and passion in his rapping that is rare to find.
2. SG Wannabe - "Timeless"
This is a karaoke favorite and an older track. If I happen to hum this song, my mom says, "Oh, it's that song you sing at karaoke and you won't let go of the mic."
I must have listened to this track over hundreds of times, but it's a song I never get sick of. The tune and lyrics are so beautiful, about a guy who just lives with the thought that he might see her again. I mean, come on, you can't get more poetic than that!
1. Epik High - "Born Hater"
When I first heard the song, I think I thought it was just all right because I normally don't enjoy songs with explicit lyrics. But when I listened to it again and read the translated lyrics, I was like "Dang, this is spot on!"
The lyrics are so each so personal to each rapper, and the lyrics are worded so cleverly, especially Verbal Jint's lyrics. Take that, haters!
